The President of the United Arab Emirates passes away.

It is the Israeli president, Isaac Herzog mourns the death of the long-serving president of the United Arab Emirates. They are one of the few Arab nations who have normalized their relationship with Israel. Herzog stated in a statement released on Friday, “the brave leadership of Sheikh Khalifa contributed a lot to the progress of the United Arab Emirates and its people and the growing partnership between our two countries and is a great legacy for his successors.”

The Israeli foreign minister also made the same statement the other day. Yair Lapid. He was a brave leader who looked ahead and worked to ensure the future. It’s a sad day for all in the world who (…) trusts in tranquility.” The Premier has also Naftali Bennett offered condolences.

In September 2020 Israel reached agreements with United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. It was the United States brokered the Abraham Accords under the then-President Donald Trump. Morocco as well as Sudan also announced plans to normalize relations with Israel. In the past there were just two Arab countries, Egypt and Jordan, had diplomatic relations with Israel.
