‘Wonderful Actress’: Robert De Niro Pays Tribute to Late Co-Star Anne Heche

Following Anne Heche’s passing, Robert De Niro is recalling her as a “great actor” in his remembrances. 53 years old.

The two-time Oscar-winning actor stated in a statement to ET, “The news of Anne Heche’s unfortunate death makes me very sorry. She was a fantastic actress, and I had a great time working with her on “Wag the Dog.” Sad!Sad!Sad!”

In the 1997 political farce, De Niro, 78, played the cunning spin doctor Conrad Brean, and Heche played Winifred Ames, a presidential adviser who humorously attempted to divert the media’s attention from a developing White House crisis. Additionally included are Woody Harrelson, Denis Leary, William H. Macy, and Dustin Hoffman.

The actress is brain dead, which is the legal definition of death in California, even if her heart is still beating. Heche has not been taken off life support, according to a statement from her rep to ET, to give OneLegacy Foundation ample time to locate organ recipients who will be a match.

The statement says, in part, “Today we lost a bright light, a lovely and most joyous person, a loving mother, and a faithful friend.” “Although Anne will be sorely missed, she continues to influence society through her endearing boys, the legendary body of work, and fierce activism. Her courage in always speaking the truth and sharing her message of acceptance and love will have an everlasting effect.”

Following the devastating news, Ed Helms, James Gunn, and Rosanna Arquette were just a few celebrities in Hollywood who also paid respect to the actress.
